Grievance Procedure
Criteria has been established that includes school attendance and the completion of school assignments (RI), in addition to the required on-the-job hours worked (OJL). The school criteria must be met every 20-assigned school days or the Apprentice will not advance their hourly rate.
Apprentices who have a complaint at the classroom level should ask to meet with the Instructor to resolve the problem. Failure to resolve the problem at the classroom level, the Apprentice should put their problem in writing and submit it to the Director of Apprenticeship and Training Office.
The Director of Apprenticeship and Training will review the complaint; confer with any and all parties that are a part of the complaint and attempt to resolve the problem in a fair and equitable manner.
If the decision of the Director of Apprenticeship and Training is not acceptable to ALL parties, a written request must be submitted, by the Apprentice and Instructor, for the complaint to be placed on the agenda of the next Finishing Trades Institute of DC 14 Chicago JATC Meeting to be reviewed by the Trustees.
The decision of the Finishing Trades Institute of DC 14 Chicago Trustees will be final.
