Attendance Requirements

Commercial Painters & Drywall Finishers - Attend class 1-day a week on the scheduled school day

Industrial Painters - Attend 1-week (5-days) on assigned days for a total of 4-weeks per year

First (1st) Absence:  Notice to employer stating the absence

Second (2nd) Absence:  Again, notice to employer stating the absence

Third (3rd) Absence:  The first time you have three (3) absences on a 20-day attendance period, you are given a written warning. 

If absent another day in that 20-day period or 3 absences are acquired in any other 20-day period, there will be a corrective action, and your employer will be notified.

First Drop: You are allowed a reinstatement fee of $75.00, from your stipend. 

Final Drop: Requires the Apprentice to appeal to the Finishing Trades Institute of DC 14 Chicago at the next JATC meeting. The Apprentice can not work during this time. Should the board agree to reinstate, the Apprentice will be put on probation for a period of time.

Note: You are allowed only one warning notice and two drops for your entire Apprenticeship.
